North Wales Crusaders hit the road again this weekend as they take on Birmingham based Midlands Hurricanes.
After a disappointing and injury hit start to the 2023 campaign, Crusaders are looking to bounce back with some key men returning to the squad. Dave Gibbons returns from a 5 match suspension, Paul Nash is back in contention having recovered from his injury, Chris Barratt returns from a thumb issue and player coach Carl Forster could potentially feature having recovered from a shoulder issue.
Pat Rainford has been ruled out for 2-3 weeks with a shoulder injury picked up against Rochdale whilst Matt Reid is still in doubt. Callum Hazzard is also unlikely to feature due to a calf injury sustained at training.
Midlands Hurricanes have endured a mixed start to the season with wins coming against Cornwall and Skolars but going down to Dewsbury, Rochdale, Workington and Hunslet.
Head Coach Carl Forster is upbeat about this weekend's fixture, saying: “I’m looking forward to getting back out there. We’ve had some unwanted weekends off where we would rather just be back out there putting the wrongs right but we’ve trained really hard.
“We were in training on the weekend off. We’ve worked hard on what we need to and the lads are ready to turn things around.
“Sunday will be an opportunity for us to press the reset button and kickstart our season.”
