Kieran Taylor becomes the latest player to sign with North Wales Crusaders for the 2023 season. 22 yr old Taylor began as a junior at Blackbrook and has been at Orrell St James since then. Taylor gained representative honours in 2022 playing for England Community Lions U23 in November against Wales. Predominantly a centre, Crusaders fans have already had a chance to see Taylor in action with him having featured on trial against Barrow. If not selected for the Crusaders matchday squad, Taylor will be eligible to continue representing Orrell St James.
Upon signing, Taylor said: “I am made up and very grateful to have been given the opportunity to play for North Wales Crusaders. I’ve really enjoyed the preseason so far with the lads and can't wait to get back out on the field with them. I hope to give the fans what they deserve, which is a big push for promotion this season.”
Head Coach Carl Forster is pleased to have Kieran on board for 2023 and said: “After a successful trial period, I'm delighted it's now permanent. I thought he was one of the best players on the field against Barrow after only coming into the group 3 days before the game. He’s quick, strong and keen to learn.”
Forster also explained the arrangement with Orrell St James around the signing of Taylor: “I’d like to thank Orrell for their cooperation in signing Kieran up to the professional ranks. He has come in and spoken very highly of the club and it shows in how he conducts himself both on and off the field. With Kieran eligible to play for Orrell when not selected for us this season, I'm sure this will work out well for everyone involved.”
